The Chort was the FV's first major warship. It was designed to be tough, simple and reliable. It had 8 scythe cannons, 6 in the nose and two firing aft. The clumbersone sensor array was incorporated into the leading edges of the tail cooling fins. Although it did not have the high FTL speeds of the Lance or Uhlan, it was well armoured, had acceptable performance and carried a shuttle as well as cargo. 20 marines were included in the 100 crew.

Chorts were always fairly anonymous, typical markings were grey and green. Some ships had tactical numbers on the tail fins.
