SHIP SPECIFICATIONS

The EEL was a specialist sensor ship, designed for long range detection of Dissenter operations. Performance varied, most used Moth engines and when these were umproved, the version of the Eel with the same engines also had an improvement. Eels spent a long time on-station and most engines were tuned for reliability and economy rather than speed. Eels tended to serve secondary roles, their huge fuel tanks made them useful as tankers for ships low on fuel and replacement crewmembers were often left on an Eel to wait for a ship to arrive to collect them.
